Jovi, who previously worked in the BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) industry, has been employed with HireSmart since December 2021, as a maintenance coordinator for a U.S. property management firm.

Jovi claims she’s “not great at small talk,” but the affable Filipino virtual employee speaks at ease about her job. She encourages fellow HireSmart VEs to look for ways they can help their clients. 

 

“It’s not just focusing on what you need to do,” she said. “It’s also thinking about how you can help others. It’s about being proactive and assisting them or even just offering help. There are instances that they would say, ‘No, I’m good, I don’t need help,’ but just the fact that you tried to offer your assistance, even if that’s not really part of the job you’re supposed to do, I think that helps build relationships.” 

 

Jovi’s client certainly values her, saying she wants “to adopt her (Jovi) as my sister.”  

 

“She is always smiling, has kind words, gets my goofy humor, and loves to joke around,” the client said. “I feel like I have known her forever and would love to meet her face to face so I could give her a hug and make her favorite soup! Everyone who speaks with her tells us how much she is professional and quick to answer questions. She is a true team player and quick to ask questions if she is unfamiliar with a topic. She truly deserves to have every award that is available.”

When she’s on the clock for work, Jovi oversees maintenance calls. 

 

“Tenants will report something happened at the house,” she said. “I assist them with troubleshooting if it’s something that they can do on their end. If it needs to be checked by a professional, I look for one that’s available.” 

 

She also follows up on maintenance matters to ensure everything has been handled appropriately. She speaks with owners to make sure they’re clear on the situation. 

 

“If a job requires funding from the owner, I talk to them and explain what happened,” she said.

Jovi said moving from the BPO to HireSmart significantly improved her life. 

 

“There’s a lot of benefits working at home,” she said. “So my life definitely changed since I joined HireSmart.”

Away from work, Jovi, a self-described “homebody,” likes to spend time with her two dogs: a Shih Tzu named “Patchy,” — “she has patches,” Jovi says — and a Beagle named “Willow.” 

 

She likes watching television shows in her free time, such as “Hell’s Kitchen.” 

 

“I don’t really cook, but I love the drama,” she said.
