What’s Your Next Chapter Going to Look Like?

My dog, Adrian, lost his sight in 2024. Watching him bump into furniture and hesitate at familiar doorways hit me hard. The formerly energetic little guy can no longer confidently bounce around his “little castle” (our house). It broke my heart when I realized he could no longer see my face or the colors that once filled his world.

Something shifted in me during his adjustment. I found myself paying more attention to colors — really seeing them. I notice the way morning light paints a wall gold, the subtle variations of green outside, the bold splash of red cardinals against winter branches. I took up watercolor painting again, letting vibrant pigments flow across paper. I hung more art in our home, surrounding us with life and energy.

Adrian has had to adapt to an entirely new way of moving through life. This resonates deeply with me. I think about how bad things happen to all creatures great and small, and then we have to see in new ways. A couple of years ago, cancer forced me to adjust, and to navigate life differently.

I think about business owners in this way, too. Many feel trapped in darkness, unable to see a way forward through their staffing challenges. They’re bumping into the same obstacles repeatedly – high turnover, mounting costs, endless hiring cycles.

I hear from owners who say, “I don’t know what to do anymore. I keep losing good people to higher offers. Training new hires takes time I don’t have.”

47 Tasks a Virtual Employee Can Do for Your Business

But here’s what I’ve learned: sometimes when our familiar view is obscured, we’re forced to look in new directions. I absolutely love that our clients have seen a new way by partnering with HireSmart Virtual Employees.

Business owners manage so many things, and our VEs can take enough off their shoulders to navigate their lives with a clearer direction and less stress.

“Jovi is extremely hard working and always willing to step up and help where needed,” said one client. “She is always ready to help even though she has a huge workload herself! She’s always smiling and just radiates positivity. She is a valuable asset to our team and we are so happy to have her!”

Another client found unexpected light through their virtual employee:

Nikka is the maintenance coordinator for our property management department. She takes ownership of all her clients and tasks in such a persevering, loving and nurturing way. She’s always ready, willing, and very able to work, and we appreciate her efforts so much.”

These business owners found fresh approaches to staffing by expanding their view beyond local markets. They stopped struggling alone and embraced partnership with an agency that could guide them through global hiring’s complexities.

Our virtual employees bring their own vibrant colors to our clients’ businesses – dedication, skills, enthusiasm.

“Mitch is nothing short of absolutely amazing,” shared another client. “The way she has been able to pick up everything that goes into this job and makes it seem so easy. She’s not afraid to get her hands dirty with a difficult call, she’s constantly looking out for her fellow coworkers, and it’s all done with the most positive attitude one can have.”

Over the past decade, we’ve helped hundreds of business owners transform their staffing challenges into opportunities, building stronger, more efficient teams. We handle the intricate details — legal compliance, benefits, pre-onboarding training — so you can focus on seeing the bigger picture for your business.

We also invest in our VEs, so that they can focus on you. We provide comprehensive employee support that creates remarkable stability. Your virtual employee receives health and dental benefits, educational scholarships for their children, and ongoing professional development – all at no extra cost to you. This investment in their wellbeing translates into exceptional loyalty and performance for your business.

Adrian, my sweet little companion of a decade, reminds me that we don’t have to face difficult changes alone. We can be there for each other. I’m there for him, just as he’s been by my side for his entire life. I wish I could help him see, but I can’t.

However, many small and mid-sized business owners now see how global office talent can transform their operations, and it’s so rewarding to bring that light — these wonderful VEs who truly shine — into their operations. “Oh wow! I just didn’t know what was possible!” I hear that all the time, and it’s such a joy.
