As Nedoroscik Inspires Us, Why Not Bring the Olympic Mindset to Business?

Back to Blog POsts

The story never fails to intrigue us: An unknown athlete captures global attention after years of toil in obscurity, perfecting a highly specialized skill.

Isn’t this the point of the Olympics? We see dreams realized. We see the payoff of relentless hard work given its proper place, literally on a pedestal.

I got chill bumps watching American Stephen Nedoroscik swinging and floating and — well, just killing it — on the pommel horse in the men’s gymnastics competition. I’m in front of our TV cheering like I’m also in Paris, feeling full of pride for this man and this country. “Hell, yeah! You go Stephen! You Clark Kent of athletes.” He does look a little like the reporter version of Superman, doesn’t he?

Nedoroscik dismounted from the pommel horse and was swarmed by his jubilant teammates, who lifted him off the ground after he lifted the American men to their first team medal since the 2008 Beijing games. Brilliant! What a moment!

Building Stronger Teams: The Importance of a Staff Maintenance Strategy

Obviously, Nedoroscik and his teammates aren’t alone in impressing the world. The otherworldly grace, beauty, and straight-up power of generational U.S. gymnast superstar Simone Biles leaves us all spellbound, asking, “How exactly does a human do that?”

But the Nedoroscik story resonates with me right now. I’m thinking of all that solitude on the pummel horse, all the long hours with no one watching. He had no guarantee of a moment of glory, but he was tenacious in testing his limits.

I’m not a big sports metaphor gal, but sometimes I witness something in sports that hits home with a deeper meaning for me.

His big moment struck me. I thought of genuine commitment — do we shy away from it or dive head first into it? I thought of our specialties and how we must find something we’re good at and commit to continuous betterment.

A Tale of Better Staffing; How to Write It For Yourself

I’m no Olympic athlete, but I’m grateful to have a mission where I can fully commit my passions — and no, it’s not on a pommel horse, though that would be quite the sight. My life mission is simple. It’s making lives better around me. I want to do that in my personal and professional life. This mission was a great awakening in life. I didn’t always think that way, but through experience, I gained perspective.

In business, I focus on bringing people together across many time zones to create the best workforce possible for U.S. businesses that struggle to find quality employees. My “pommel horse” is global hiring, and I’ve spent a decade mastering the complexities of hiring abroad.

First, why hire internationally? Well, the Web is the great geographic equalizer. And so many tasks can be handled at a fraction of the local market rate with absolutely no loss in quality. In fact, you can upgrade your services if you hire correctly. The ability to scale, the cost benefits, the new tasks that can be tackled — these are all gamechangers.

Want to Up Your Hiring Game?

However, when a company decides to hire virtual employees from other countries, they’re not just recruiting talent — they’re entering a labyrinth of international regulations, cultural nuances, and logistical hurdles. Each country has unique labor laws, tax regulations, and employment practices that must be navigated carefully.

At HireSmart Virtual Employees, we’ve spent a decade solving every challenge when hiring talent from the Philippines. We now link hundreds of clients in various industries to full-time, highly vetted, thoughtful, intelligent employees who live by our SMARTER core values.

We’ve honed this process into a proven winner, with a successful placement rate of over 98 percent. Think of the typical company. Do 49 out of 50 hires typically work out? Ours do.

I can safely say we know how to stick the landing when it comes to hiring.

I hope you keep watching these Olympic games and seeing brilliance on display. People like Nedoroscik inspire me. I hope you feel the same.

And if you feel like your business is toiling in obscurity and searching for a way to reach the next level, consider matching our passion with your ambition. We will help you develop a stronger team. I have zero doubts because I’m that confident in how we approach global hiring. We have a passion for it; we have strategies; we have processes; we’re relentlessly committed to quality; we find the right people to fill your specific needs.

Goodness, there’s so much talent abroad, right? The Olympics stand as proof. Please understand, if you want to enter the global hiring game, we’re your gold standard. We back that up with our actions each and every time.
